Who I am
I worked and played music in the Umpqua Valley for most of my life. I love music and my goal in life is to help more people make music. I’ve taught music for over 20 years, and as I acquired the skills, I would repair my instruments and those of my students. I love working on musical instruments, and I’ve always seen myself doing it as a profession after I was done classroom teaching.
In 2018 I had the opportunity to apprentice to become a piano technician under the mentorship of John Granholm. In 2023 I completed my training and passed the three Piano Technician exams with the Piano Technicians Guild of America, earning my status as a Registered Piano Technician with the Guild. I am a current member of the PTG in good standing.
Through building my own instruments, of which the guitar on my cover page is one, and repairing them, I have developed skills in cello, violin, guitar, banjo set up and repair. I also re-hair violin, viola, and cello bows. I honored that many local musicians trust me with their instruments.
